Lake Placid Coach Project

As noted on the main web page the Lake Placid bunch has secured an old Con-Dot car to turn into a sort of "party car" to be used for special trains and for special occasions.  It is hoped that with time and materials and manpower we can rehab this old coach into something that will make us some money.  Following the leads set down by various other railroads it was the Operation Manager's concept that we should make an effort to secure or build a car that would allow us to run a premium promotional special coach.  Getting this coach has been a 2 year wait but this year it finally made it north and the plans are already underway.  This page will be used to do several things.  It will keep people up to date on the progress of the coach, and it will also list forthcoming work or plans yet to be made for the various work that needs to be done.  Furthermore I'll post progress pictures along the way so that others can see how we're coming along.  I will also list the materials that we need or are short so that perhaps others can seek them out in their own areas for us.  There will also be a sign in book in the coach so that the volunteers working on the coach can have their hours recorded for their contribution of time.  This is important.  We want to be able to recognize everyone's efforts on this coach.

Funding will be a major hurdle for us as we are going to make an effort to fund it wholly in-house with donations from builder supply houses, donated funds, personal donations, and gifts as well as future advertising space and some sort of recognition for donations in the form of a plaque that will be hung in the coach upon completion.  Billy has plans to further entice people into helping us with funding but these plans are young and I'm not at liberty to reveal them just yet.  Suffice it to say that it WILL be legal (at least in one remote county that I know of) and will not endanger anyone (within 1000 miles of the railroad) or cause bankruptcy in any way for those helping with money.  Indeed it will be an earned privilege for those contributing.

The fund is growing and money is starting to accumulate (a little anyway) so we're hoping to get a start on the car soon.
